Velociraptor T-shirts

These are some of the best velociraptor tees I've come across online. Most of them are customizable in shirt color and/or brand.

Quick facts. Velociraptor means "swift seizer" or "speedy thief" depending on the source. They had feathers. Yep, feathers. Their fossils have been found in Mongolia, Russia, and China (guess where they found the Utahraptor?). They were the size of turkeys, though the Utahraptors were the size of Grizzlys. Either way, they were still vicious. Their teeth were more strongly serrated on the back edge than the front—likely to improve ability to catch and hold fast-moving prey. Their enlarged middle claw (they had 3) could be 2 1/2- 3 1/2 inches long and yeah, that was their can-opener. To add to the fun, we think they could have run up to 40 mph.

Sometimes evolution sucks t-shirt. While perhaps not scientifically accurate (the real raptor was more like a turkey-sized, feathered dinosaur instead of the large lean-mean human-sized hunting machine that we know), it still looks cool. $25.20 +shipping on a basic tee. $30.70 +shipping on American Apparel. Easterus Bunnysaurus is a funny design for the little dino-tykes. This particular one shown for toddlers is $16.45 +shipping, kids American Apparel is $22.45, but I'm clueless with kid sizes and apparel so check em out. (Not supposed to over-link. Please look for design at Zazzle).

I love the conformed fit and material of American Apparel, but it's probably ethical to make sure they aren't running sweat shops or anything. So I've done some digging and am slightly embarrassed at how little I know about the company. It turns out that not only are they based in the United States, but they are also the largest clothing manufacturer in the United States. I knew they were big into t-shirts, but they also make underwear, pants, dresses, nail polish, bedding, and other clothing and accessories.

While founded in 1989, they moved manufacturing from South Carolina to east Los Angeles and in 2000 moved again to downtown Los Angeles. They are one of the few clothing companies manufacturing in the USA and actually exporting products overseas. Their factory workers average $12/hour verses their U.S. competitors in China who average $0.40/hour. They do all areas of production. They don't outsource, which gives them good turnover times and quality control.

They also are an ethical company who promotes human and animal rights. Their products are animal-free, they support the legalization of gay marriage in California, and push for immigration reform in the U.S. Aside from this, they appear to be considered marketing geniuses. I thought I liked the brand because their shirts hold up after many washes, but perhaps I'm a subliminal victim to their sexual ads and chic image? But regardless, yeah, I'm definitely comfortable buying AA.
